The Challenge

A London restaurant institution synonymous with immersion and imagination, Dishoom were looking for a digital ecosystem to mirror its impressive operation in form and function alike — translating its rich physical environment into a frictionless online platform.

A brand with storytelling at the fore, design and content needed to be supported at scale — with the output capturing the elegance and escapism of its in-person experience whilst preserving the highest levels of service.

The Answer

Dishoom’s magic lies not just in its food but in its ability to transport guests into its ‘innocent, slightly-barmy, sepia-tinted’ vision of Bombay. With each café rooted in a rich narrative, we sought to bring this nostalgic world to life online, making it as tangible and sensory as the city itself.

No set fonts, no specific palette, no formal rules. Instead, we embraced historic references, crafting a design language unique to each café, treating their stories as independent microsites with bespoke palettes, typography, and assets inspired by their interiors.

Beyond the aesthetics, we built a robust digital foundation, restructuring Dishoom’s platform with a data-first approach powered by a Headless CMS and intuitive infrastructure, allowing for content to load at hyperspeed and flexible interactions that pushed the UX beyond the norm.

From transportive video and art direction to hidden design easter eggs, every touchpoint prioritises emotion over function. Collaborating with Seven Rooms and Shopify, we customised APIs to make every moment as seamless and personalised as the Dishoom experience itself.
